I have been able to get it to update a couple of ways, but ultimately, I may have found a better solution.
I went to Edit Uncheck "Automatically update quotes every 15 minutes".
If I enter transactions, the amount in the account bar doesn't change for a minute or two.
Also, if I enter transactions in the calendar, it doesn't change the color of the grid until I click on a different day and click back again. The calendar problem is not new, but the account bar problem is. I have Quicken 2016 update 6 on Windows 10, using a 6-core CPU with GTX-980 video card and 16GB RAM.
